Okay, so surgery is set for a week from today. My date got pushed because some higher priority surgeries need to happen this week. I don’t have an issue with it either since I need some time to get my work responsibilities taken care of.
Okay, so the pic above is another shot of my super amazing giant cyst. The white organ in the top cavity of my chest is obviously my heart. The huge grey space that makes my heart look like pac-man is my cyst. So, it appears as though the cyst is pressing on my heart. Granted, this is all assumption at this point since the doctors can’t determine where the cyst is located. So yeah, that thing is freaking huge. haha. If you’ve been following my blog for even a short time, you probably know that I am uber competitive with most things, so it should be no surprise to you that I am super excited about being the winner for the biggest cyst :-). Okay, it’s not the biggest cyst in HISTORY, but it’s the biggest cyst of anyone I know. ;) Kidding, I’m not happy about this, but I do need to find some silver lining, right?
We spent the weekend getting prepped for surgery since we didn’t know what date it was going to be and now I get to spend some time relaxing. I haven’t decided what I will do with my free time this week/weekend, but Im sure whatever it ends up being will involve some sort of physical activity.
I only managed to run a total of 10 miles this weekend because I was trying to get things in order. My breathing is still the same - annoyingly difficult. I haven’t decided how many miles or workouts I will try to get in over the next 7 days, but I have considered doing some different activities like bike riding, roller blading, and even that new rip stick that all the kids in the neighborhood have.
My diet has been beyond amazing. I haven’t eaten this healthy in a while and it’s mainly because I want to make sure that I am chocked full of vitamins and minerals the day of surgery. The LAST thing I want to do is catch some infection or cold while I am in ICU! So, my diet has been consisting of 5-7 helpings of veggies, an Odwalla drink, a protein (right now mahi mahi) with some carbs (gnocchi), and then my standard cup of coffee in the morning and my glass of red in the evening. Now, tomorrow Adam and I are planning on going out to eat, but I have been craving this portobella “burger” from a local spot in town, so I think my cheat meal tomorrow will still be veggie heavy.
Okay - so that’s the update as of tonight. I’m sure we’ll have more after my preop (scheduled for Thursday). Maybe I’ll blog about how much it stinks to fast before surgery! haha.
